Profile of Md Talath Mahmud (Topu)

My name is MD Talath Mahmud (Topu), and I’m currently an independent contractor. Being raised in a political family, I was always surrounded by prominent leaders. After completing my Bachelor in Biochemistry in India, I moved to the United States. I’ve been in various management titles over the years, including retail, food and beverage, medical. I’ve also owned and operated jewelry and cell phone stores. My many years of political and managerial experience makes me a great candidate for this upcoming election.

I’ve been very active in the past couple of years with our community. I co-founded the BCL (Bangladesh Community of Laveen). I helped to manage and organize three successful community picnics. During the Holy Ramadan, I helped coordinate iftar dinner parties and fundraising events for ICL (Islamic Center of Laveen).

My goal with Bangladesh Association of Phoenix (BAP) is to unite the Bangladeshi community of Arizona under one umbrella, where they can connect and have fun together and share laughs and conversation. I will develop and implement strategies to engage and connect with the community members. This may involve organizing events, forums, or outreach programs. I will gather feedback from the community to understand their needs, concerns, and suggestions. Use this feedback to inform the organization’s decision-making processes.

As the Director of Community Affairs, my primary duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Will act as a liaison between the Board of Directors, and the local and foreign communities
  2. Responsible for conducting opinion surveys among any group of members, regarding what they want the Association to do within the bounds of this constitution
  3. The frequency of these surveys will be decided by the Board of Directors at the beginning of the term.
  4. Responsibility shall also include coordination of assistance programs that can be offered to the Bangladeshis in need or new Bangladeshis coming to Arizona.
  5. Create sub-committees from any group of members to help in performing the duties
